How to Play

Snakes & Ladders: Power Play keeps the classic race to square 100 — and adds power-ups, a coin economy, overbounce near the finish, and snakes that shuffle mid-game. Use this page as the full rules reference.
Objective
Race every opponent to square 100. The first token to land on (or reach) it wins instantly — even mid-turn from a power-up.
Rolling & movement
Tap the dice on your turn. Your token hops one square at a time along the roll so you can watch every step. Land at the foot of a ladder to climb (plus a coin bonus). Land on a snake's head and you slide to its tail — unless you are holding a Shield.
Overbounce (Power Play)
Classic snakes and ladders usually wastes a roll that would go past 100. Here, the extra steps bounce you back down the board.
Example: on 98, a roll of 5 goes 99 → 100 → 99 → 98 → 97.
Snake shuffle
Every few turns the snakes reappear in new spots. Watch the glowing ring around the board border as it fills toward a shuffle. If your token ends under a freshly placed snake head, you get bitten unless shielded.
Match coins & wallet
Everyone starts a match with 50 spendable coins for power-ups. Earn more from coin tiles, milestone flags at 25 / 50 / 75, power-up stars, and ladder climbs. A Coin Magnet doubles gains for 3 turns. Unspent match coins do not carry over.
Your wallet is separate — it keeps coins between games for theme unlocks, achievement rewards, wins, and a streak-scaled daily bonus.
Power-up shop
Spend match coins on your turn from the shop next to the dice. Some powers target an opponent — with multiple players you pick who.

Multiplayer
Create or join a room with a short code. If you don't roll within 10 seconds on your turn, the dice auto-rolls so the room never sits stuck. If a player disconnects mid-turn, anyone else can force-skip them after a grace period.
FAQ
- Is Snakes & Ladders: Power Play free?
- Yes. The game is free to play in the browser. Optional wallet coins unlock board themes; there is no paywall to start a match.
- Can I play snakes and ladders online with friends?
- Yes. Create or join an online room with a short code. Local pass-and-play and vs CPU are also available on one device.
- What is overbounce?
- If a roll would take you past square 100, the extra steps bounce you back down the board instead of wasting the roll.
- Do snakes stay in the same place?
- No. In Power Play, snakes shuffle to new positions every few turns. Frequency and snake count depend on difficulty.
- What is the difference between match coins and the wallet?
- Match coins reset every game and buy power-ups during that match. Your wallet persists across sessions for themes and rewards.
- Does the game work offline?
- Install the progressive web app (PWA). After the first load, Local Play and vs CPU work offline. Online multiplayer needs a connection.
