Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-09-09 · PAPA Tech Solutions

This Privacy Policy explains how PAPA Tech Solutions ("we", "us") handles information when you use Snakes & Ladders: Power Play (the "Game"), including the website and installable progressive web app (PWA). We operate under the laws of India.

1. Who we are

The Game is operated by PAPA Tech Solutions. For privacy questions, email support@powerplay.games.

2. Guest play — no accounts

The Game does not require you to create an account. You play as a guest. Display names you choose in local, vs-CPU, or multiplayer modes are used only for that session (and, in multiplayer, stored temporarily with the room on our servers). We do not maintain a traditional user profile or login.

3. Information we collect

3.1 On your device (local storage)

The Game stores data in your browser's local storage / session storage so features work offline and across visits. This may include:

  • An anonymous device identifier used for analytics and rate limiting
  • A per-tab session identifier
  • Your in-game wallet balance, daily streak, and achievement progress
  • Theme preferences, audio settings, and multiplayer lobby helpers (e.g. display name)
  • PWA-related install prompts / service worker caches for assets

This data stays on your device unless you clear site data. We cannot read your local wallet or achievements from our servers.

3.2 Analytics (our servers)

We collect anonymous gameplay analytics on our own infrastructure (MongoDB). Events are allowlisted (for example: game started, match finished, power-up purchased, screen views). Each batch may include:

  • Anonymous device and session IDs
  • Approximate timezone and browser language
  • Coarse geography (country / region / city) derived from edge network headers — we do not store raw IP addresses for analytics
  • Device type / OS inferred from the user-agent string
  • Non-personal event properties (e.g. game mode, difficulty)

Raw first-party analytics events are retained for approximately 180 days, after which they are automatically deleted.

3.2b Google Analytics (Firebase)

We also use Google Analytics for Firebase (a Google service) to understand aggregated usage of the website and PWA. The Firebase Analytics SDK may collect device and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase documentation. We send the same allowlisted gameplay event names (for example match finished, room created) without attaching names, emails, or other contact details. This is in addition to the first-party analytics on our servers.

3.3 Multiplayer rooms

When you create or join an online room, we store room codes, seat display names, connection presence, and game state needed to run the match. Abandoned rooms expire automatically (typically within about 24 hours of last activity). Seat secrets used to authenticate you to a room are never exposed in public room views.

3.4 Feedback you submit

If you use the Feedback form, we store the message you send, an optional star rating, and any optional name or email you provide. Feedback is reviewed manually by us. We do not currently send automated replies. Optional email is kept only so we may follow up later if needed.

4. How we use information

  • Operate and improve the Game (balance, bugs, feature usage)
  • Run multiplayer matches and prevent abuse (rate limits)
  • Review feedback you choose to send
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use browser storage (localStorage / sessionStorage) and may use cookies required for the site, PWA, or security. We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising (see below), additional cookies or similar technologies may be used by ad partners.

6. Advertising (future)

We may introduce advertising, including Google AdSense or similar networks, once the Game has enough traffic and meets partner requirements. If we do:

  • Third parties may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads
  • Google's use of data is governed by Google's policies (see Google Advertising Policies)
  • Before ads go live for visitors in regions that require it (e.g. EEA / UK), we intend to add an appropriate consent / cookie banner

This section will be updated when advertising is actually enabled.

7. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with infrastructure providers that host the Game and database (acting as processors), or if required by law. First-party analytics and feedback are stored on systems we control. Usage measurement described in section 3.2b is processed by Google as part of Firebase / Google Analytics.

8. Retention

  • Analytics events: ~180 days (automatic expiry)
  • Multiplayer rooms: short-lived; expire after inactivity
  • Feedback submissions: kept until we no longer need them for product improvement or correspondence, or you ask us to delete them
  • Device-local data: until you clear site storage or uninstall the PWA

9. Children

The Game is a casual board game suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction) for commercial purposes. If you believe a child has submitted personal information via Feedback, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information you have provided (for example, an email submitted with feedback). Because play is guest-based, most gameplay data is anonymous or only on your device. To make a request, email support@powerplay.games and describe what you need. We will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Do not include sensitive personal information (passwords, payment card numbers, government IDs) in Feedback messages.

12. International visitors

The Game may be hosted and accessed from multiple regions. By using the Game you understand that information may be processed in India and other locations where our hosting providers operate.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Game after changes means you accept the updated policy.
